Student Responsibilities

Students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and responsible manner throughout their homestay experience. The following responsibilities must be observed at all times:

  • Respect household rules and behave as a considerate member of the host family.
  • Communicate openly and clearly with your host family whenever necessary.
  • Use polite language, including saying “please” and “thank you,” when making requests or receiving assistance.
  • Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the home.
  • Adhere to the curfew established by the host family.
  • Inform your host family in advance if you will be eating out or arriving late for dinner.
  • Limit use of the host family’s telephone. Avoid late-night calls that may disturb the household.
  • Keep your host family informed of your whereabouts at all times, including who you will be with and your expected return time. Overnight stays require prior permission from the host family.
  • You are responsible for providing your own personal items, including shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and similar necessities.
  • If you do not have a phone card, all long-distance calls must be made collect.
  • You are responsible for your own laundry. Long-term students must purchase their own laundry detergent and fabric softener. Please wait until you have a full load before doing laundry and consult your host family regarding appropriate times. Your host family will demonstrate how to use the washer and dryer. Some host families may offer to do laundry once per week.
  • Keep your room clean and tidy at all times. Make your bed daily before leaving the house.
  • Offer assistance with clearing the table after meals.
  • The use of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited.
  • Any damage caused to the host family’s property must be reported and financially compensated by the student.
  • Internet usage is included within the household’s monthly data allowance. However, if excessive usage results in additional charges beyond the host family’s standard monthly plan, the student will be responsible for covering the excess cost. Host families will provide copies of the previous two months’ internet bills for reference.

Terms and Conditions

By participating in the homestay program, the student and their parents or legal guardians agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • The student, parents, or legal guardians release Homestay Select+, its staff, agents, and host families from any claims related to loss, injury, accidents, or expenses incurred during participation in the program, including airport transfers and accommodation arrangements.
  • The student, parents, or legal guardians agree to assume financial responsibility for any liabilities, damages, injuries, or losses to persons or property caused by the student during the program.
  • The student, parents, or legal guardians acknowledge that Homestay Select+ is not responsible for any injury or loss suffered by the student during the program.
  • The student agrees to comply with all local laws, household rules, student responsibilities, and school requirements, including regular class attendance.
  • Homestay Select+ reserves the right to expel a student for theft, drug use, or any serious breach of discipline.
  • In the event of illness or injury, Homestay Select+, its staff, agents, and host families are authorized to take necessary action, including arranging medical treatment and coordinating transportation back to the student’s home country at the parents’ expense, if requested.
  • Parents authorize Homestay Select+ and the host family to grant permission for student trips and overnight stays.
  • Parents and students acknowledge that custodianship responsibilities are shared among host families, staff members, and the assigned custodian. A custodial staff member will meet new students upon arrival.
  • Homestay Select+ reserves the right to assign host families based on availability.
  • If relocation to a new host family is required, the first relocation will be provided at no charge. A fee of $200.00 will apply for a second relocation. All moves will occur at the end of the month.
  • To secure homestay placement for the following term or school year, full payment must be received by Homestay Select+ by the invoice due date.
